How much tax $$$ is too much?

Our legislators have approved the governor's budget which increases spending by 20% and breaks I-601 spending limits. While the governor tells us that he heard the taxpayers' cries for less government and lower taxes, he proposes more new spending than at any time in recent history. He plans to add over 5,000 people to the government payroll at a time when nearly one in four workers in this State already work in government jobs. There are nearly twice as many people working in government jobs as work in manufacturing jobs in Washington State. Also, there are more people receiving government welfare or unemployment checks in this State than are receiving pay in manufacturing jobs. How many people in our workforce have to work for government before we have too much government? We have passed that point long ago. Rather than seeing our State budget increase by 10 to 20 percent every two years, we need to see it decrease by 10 to 20 percent for the next two or three budget cycles. In the last ten years, the cost of government in the State of Washington has increased by more than twice the rate of inflation. It is time to call for a Washington State Taxpayer's Strike.
