On Nov. 8 voters in Alderwood Water District will be asked to elect a Water Commissioner to represent them over the next six years as the district wrestles with:
· minimizing the impact of Brightwater costs being passed through from King County
· upgrading the Picnic Point Sewage treatment plant on schedule and within budget
· negotiating new wholesale water contracts for services provided to other municipal water districts and
· establishing policies, processes and fee structures to equitably deal with the new demands being placed on district resources due to tremendous growth throughout the district.
Laren (Larey) McLaren is the candidate for the Water Commissioner’s position that brings the knowledge, experience and commitment that will be required to represent the best interest of the ratepayers in this District. The knowledge he gained as an appointed commissioner when the board was expanded to five members will make it much easier for him to become an active participant beginning the day he is sworn in. His participation as a member of the Alderwood Ratepayer Advisor Group has provided him with insight into the components and structure of the current rates. Larey’s “thinking outside the box” will bring a new perspective to the board at a time when some may be tempted to accept the way it’s always been done.
When you’re ready to mark your ballot, don’t think all the important positions are at the top of the ballot. The decisions of the water commissioner impact your life every day. Elect a qualified candidate to represent you - vote for Larey McLaren.
